Turnbull & Thomas, a fine furnishing retailer, launched by two Teesside entrepreneurs, is celebrating another business milestone after signing an exclusive partnership agreement with a locally-based supplier.
Camfero, a well-established company, has been manufacturing its furniture in Poland for the past 15 years and the exclusive online deal with Turnbull and Thomas is its first foray into the UK retail market.
The firm, which up until now has sold its products elsewhere in Europe, makes high quality handmade furniture that combines metal with natural wood, glass and fabrics.
Terence Turnbull and Gareth Thomas set up the web-based fine furnishing business Turnbull and Thomas, to help discerning customers create their perfect home.
Late last year, the company opened its first showroom, at Studio 24/25, The Old Offices, Urlay Nook Road, Eaglescliffe, to build on the success of its online retail operation.
Terence Turnbull, Turnbull and Thomas Managing Director, said: “We’re very pleased to announce our agreement with Camfero. This is a fantastic company that produces extremely high quality furniture based on traditional Polish craftsmanship.
“It is great to be linking-up with another like-minded company, which focuses on quality and originality and which has Teesside links.
“As ambitious companies, we are looking forward to working together in what we hope will be a long and fruitful partnership.”
Joanne Buckley, the Yarm-based Director of Camfero, said: “I and my co-partner Ania Swann are delighted to partner with Turnbull & Thomas, which has established a reputation for its range of fine furnishings both online and at its showroom.
“Camfero manufactures handcrafted wrought-iron furniture to our own designs as well as bespoke pieces. Our entire range is handcrafted from start to finish by time honoured craftsmen. Our attention to detail is continued through to checking and packing and only then is it ready for its new home. Our belief is that the space around us should be personalised and our furniture brings that unique individual touch.”
Before transferring to the retail sector, Mr Turnbull spent 24 years’ in the Armed Forces where he forged a reputation for meticulous attention to detail and for his distribution, re-supply and logistics expertise. After leaving the Army, Mr Turnbull accumulated in-depth retail experience, which most recently included four years as the general manager of an online furniture retailer.
Mr Thomas is an established entrepreneur as he is Managing Director of Teesside manufacturing firm, Icon Plastics at Eaglescliffe.
