The radio is a special edition nautical ‘Whitby’ themed model, which is available from John Lewis and designed in collaboration with British interior designers Mini Moderns. Inspired by 1950s linocuts, Mini Moderns’ Whitby design captures the majesty and beauty of the open sea. It is inspired by holidays in the busy and picturesque North Yorkshire seaside location, which is also a working fishing harbour. The design features seagulls and fishing boats in a clear and jaunty blue and white colour scheme.
The radio is perfect for streaming apps such as Spotify, or an iTunes collection, and the audio quality is surprisingly clear and crisp with bass sounds clearly discernible. It features dual stereo speakers to fill a room with sound, and comes with a rechargeable battery pack, making it perfect for portability. DAB/FM radio functions well and the sound quality matches Pure’s more expensive heritage and retro-themed range.
