How to make your home safer in the midst of cable clutter

With the ever-increasing number of electrical items in our home, a great concern for many people is not only the clutter or how to clean around the cables, but that the wiring may become a safety hazard, especially when they have small children or pets.

So, how do you make a home safer in the modern highly-cabled world?

Paul Ruddick, Managing Director of D-Line, says there is much can be done to make homes safer.

He said: “This has been an increasing problem for a long time. Our research has shown that, despite this being the so-called ‘wireless age’, there is 170m of cabling uncovered in the average UK home.

“A lot of people think the only alternatives are old fashioned trunking, which doesn’t look very nice in the modern home, or to leave cables and wires exposed, which simply isn’t acceptable for most homes.

“However, aesthetically pleasing alternatives are now on the market. At D-Line, we patented attractive cable covers and then followed them with a range of other related products.

“The good news is that these cable covers can be fitted by anybody, quickly, easily, with no mess and little hassle.

“The cable covers are designed to blend in with the décor of any home. As well as coming in a range of colours and sizes, they can be painted, or wood stained, and they can run along the tops of skirting boards to look like they are simply part of that décor.

“Additionally, there are two ways to fit the covers to walls: either screwing them in or using adhesive backing.

“Once fitted, they click open and shut so wires can be put inside or removed whenever necessary, something which simply isn’t possible when you have them hidden behind a wall. Also, other products include Cable Tidy Tubes to funnel multiple wires and stylish Cable Tidy Units, into which multi-socket extensions can be hidden.”
